Tue, 30 September 2008 Oh my goodness. It's been far too long. Firstly, apologies to Raymond Weir, the subject of this 2-part podcast for taking so long to release this episode. Make sure you visit the Eisenhower's site and support Raymond and his song writing endeavours by buying his excellent music. This is part 1, Raymond and I have a ramble through the Scottish indie music scene, the song writing process and we listen to 2 tracks from the new Eisenhowers album.

Wed, 7 May 2008 Breaking all the rules a good podcast should adhere to, I've left it a terribly long time since the last 'cast.
However, I'm excited to be back in tp mode, especially as I've got 3 exciting brand new tracks to bring to you.
The album is Criminal Record, email me for details on acquiring a copy.
Track list;
The Scruffs - Othertime
Kelsey Hunter - See That
Abound - Unstoppable
Theses guys are all in their teens, mostly high school students, but I think they show huge potential. And having witnessed them live, I can attest to them being tight performers!
Coming up on the tartanpodcast;
Raymond Weir - sit down interview with the man from Gum and The Eisenhowers
Kenny Little - sit down interview with the man from Hollow Horse
Both have new album to promote.

Mon, 26 September 2005 A quick additional show to the line-up showcasing bands not from Scotland. Now, before I get inundated with emails protesting, this will be a semi-regular show in addition to the 3 shows I already produce. The reason for this international show is that I get a lot of mp3 submissions from bands around the world. Admittedly my email address seems to be in some sort of bulk mailing list that bands or their managers are using to get music to music podcasters. And I don't, in essence, have a problem with that; most of these guys are producing music that should be getting heard by a much wider audience. That being said, I also get many submissions sent to me personally, with a personal note from the band or artist.But as I produce a Scottish music podcast, I tend to have a quick listen to the submitted tracks, then forget about them...which is a bit of a crime. Hence this new show. If you're a subscriber you may want to skip downloading it. It'll be clearly tagged as 'tpinternational' in your aggregator, so you should easily be able to differentiate between it and the regular tartanpodcasts. But I'd strongly urge you to give it a listen. As always the songs are handpicked by me and are tracks that I've personally enjoyed, hence I'm giving them the tartanpodcast endorsement ;-) Today you'll hear;

As per my comments on the podcast, please consider leaving your feedback on each song here on the site, and emailing the band by clicking the links I've included here.
I'd love to see a real music loving community springing up where everyone can have their input. And the bands having listener reviews of their songs is something I know they appreciate. It means they can copy and paste your review into their site, or link directly to it.

EmailVote Archive Play today's show Great to be bringing you some music again! I'll also include details on how to get the video from PodcastCon UK, although I'm hugely embarrased by it. What podcaster enjoys seeing themself on video?
Sadly, no URL for these guys, but perfect for calming the nerves whatever the circumstances. The song is taken from Deep Peace, which was sent to me by the folks at Autoclave Records. Autoclave Records are situated in Beauly and I'm looking forward to dipping into their back catalogue and bring you more music from the label very soon.

To win a copy of Ally's great album 'Calling Out To You' email me your reasons for wanting it. Make sure the subject line is 'ally kerr' The video of my speech at PodcastCon UK can be downloaded here. It weighs in at 225Mb, which may put you off. Also, the audio is quiet at times. The entire event was recorded and will be released soon on mp3, but in the meantime this is the best I've got. If you want a copy of the audio itself - without the video - you can find it here. I hope me putting this up on the 'net isn't viewed as me being big headed. Believe me, I'm not at all comfortable with standing up there in front of a roomful of strangers talking about music podcasting, so I'm not 100% thrilled at the resultant speech! And I hate being video taped/photographed, so it's a bit of a personal nightmare. But a few people have expressed an interest in hearing what I had to say, and the questions from the floor were great, so perhaps it's of interest. ![]() Comments[23] |

EmailVote Archive Play today's show The band just missed out on being played on Radio Scotland recently. Well, here's one better - getting played on a music podcast! These guys just keep getting better and better. Their music comes recommended by.......me. Sorry the hissing sounds on earlier show - it turned out my audio settings were set to record from microphone rather than line-in. Skype seems to hijack your settings to always be set to record from microphone. Comments[22] |

Isa and the Filthy Tongues - Nae Tongues Eric & The Bunny Boilers - Heard You Say Thanks for all the great emails, guys. I really appreciate it. Let me know what you think about the sound quality! I discovered that there was an audible buzzing sound throughout, but I think that was because the mic cable was stradling the mixer's power supply. Novice. Why is the Isa and the Filthy Tongues track called 'Nae Tongues'? Emails to tartanpodcast@gmail.com Comments[11] |

Thu, 31 March 2005 Jonathan (mentioned in tp#4) emailed me to say he has added the tartanpodcast to a list he's compiling of Scottish music podcasts. Here's the link! It seems the tartanpodcast is still the onlymusic podcast coming out of Scotland. Category: podcasts -- posted at: 4:34 PM Comments[15] |
